Show I ENCAMPMENT NOTES 1 Attention is called especially to the request of the woman's cit.i7.en committee com-mittee that all people who have snare rooms for the use of visitors to the city shall communicate at once with tho ofico of tho woman's citizens committee, com-mittee, room 23(5 Commercial club building, build-ing, Mrs. L. C Stocking, secretary, Bell telephono 4487. Former residents of Ohio arc anxious to obtain a quantity of Buckeyes to use as pendents for badges. Members of the Ohio society havo boon unable to obtain a sufficient supply for their badges and if. is hoped that any one having a quantity will communicate at once with Dr. J. "J. Snider, president of the society at headquarters at Eagles' hall. Arrangements have been made by tho Masons of the city to keep open house at Masonic temple every dav during the encampment from 2 to o o'clock for all veterans who arc Masons and their wives and daughters. Itcst rooms, writing writ-ing rooms, smoking and reading rooms will bo provided and light: refreshments will be served. Ladies of the Eastern Star will be in attendance to assist visitors. A pretty souvenir ot! the encampment is the G. A. R. patriotic song, the words and music of which were couiposod by Joseph C. Piatt of this city especially for the occasion. The title page is handsomely decorated with the national insignia and the letters G. A. R. in monogram. m Indications that G. A. R. relorans will lo present in large numbers from Colorado are contained in tho following dispatch received Saturday night from Denver: Denver, Aug. 7. 1909. Tho ten-car (j. A. R. special train bearing tho Colorado delegation to the Salt Lake encampment left hero today. to-day. Tho delegation was headed by General George W. Cook and was accompanied ac-companied by "Corporal" James Tanner Tan-ner of Now York, former commander-in-chief. M Tu the delegation from the northwest balurday morning was Ionian Banks, present department commander of Washington and Alaska; Mrs. Brown, dopartmcnt president of tho W. R. O.j Mrs. Houghton, department president of tho Ladies of tho G. A. R., and other officers and delegates of the Washinglon-Alnska department. |
