Including the. successor of Senator Knox, thoro will bo thirteen new senators. Tho committee places of Senator Allison of Iowa also remain to be filled. Tho vacancy as chairman of tho committee com-mittee on appropriation caused by' tho death of Mr. Allison will bo filled bv Senator Sen-ator Hale, whoso retirement as chairman of tho commltteo on naval afTalrn will cause the promotion of Senator Perkins to that place. Tho retirement of Mr. Hcm-enway Hcm-enway (Rep.) and Mr. Teller (Dem.) will make vacancies In tho commltteo on appropriations. ap-propriations. Wctmoro of Rhodo Island, Kean of Now Jersey, Dollivcr of Iowa and Nelson of Minnesota aro all looked upon as candidates to succeed Mr. Hcm-enway, Hcm-enway, but tho strong sentiment among western scnatbrs for a geographical distribution dis-tribution of such places will probably result re-sult In tho appointment of a western" senator. sen-ator.
