Show FRESH FROM CONTACT W. T. McArdle Believes the New Camp Has Possibilities. W. T. McArdle of Contact, Elko county, Nevada, arrived in Salt Lake Saturday from tho new mining camp to discuss matters relative to the Ivy Wilson company, of which he owns a large interest. Mr. McArdle i s extremely ex-tremely well pleased with the outlook at Contnct and feels certain that it will develop into one of tho big Nevada camps. Copper oro, he says, is already a matter of fact and the development work which "his company has already done indicates that there is nothing uncertain un-certain about tho steps which are being taken to block out ore. Contact is about fifty-two milos from Wcllsville on the Southern Pacific, but Mr. McArdle says that when ho left Contact a few days ago surveying parties were already on the ground doing do-ing the preliminary work for a railroad to connect the camp with the smelters. As soon as connections are established a number of mines will ship the ore, which they already have removed from their mines. The camp derives its name from tho contact between lime rock and grauite. the ore beiug found along this line of contact. This contact, line is about forty miles long and is in general in tho shape of a horseshoe. The properties proper-ties in which Mr. McArdle- is interested have the pick of tho ground along the contact. The camp is onl3r eight months old, but there are now over 300 people who are on the ground either prospecting or developing land which they control. Over half this number have come from lily, indicating in a general way that the camp has possibilities in the eyes , of these people. Mr. McArdle will leave for Contact Sunday evening. |
