Show A SUNDAY BUNCH. A few posies gathored from the editorial edi-torial mouth of Smoot on Sunday morning: "Tho Tribune know of the Mo WhirterJ robbery the night it occurred, and suppressed tho publication of it." Lio No. 1. The mouth sa3's that The Tribune apologized for its political article referring re-ferring to tho Senatorial bargain, in which Mr. Salisbury's name was mentioned. men-tioned. Lio No. 2. Whal wo said was that if an)' apology is due for bringing up that matter at such a time, the apology apol-ogy is duo from Apostlo Smoot, who precipitated tho discussion by his act of two daj-s before, in getting Secro-taiy Secro-taiy Garfield to spring his Senatorial boom. It said that "Mr. Frank .1.1 Cannon, after a long and severe labor, has suspended sus-pended his newspaper work and that his effects havo been sent to his homo from the offices in which ho had formerl) been engaged." The Tribune is the office referred to, "and his effects have not been removed. Lie No. 3. It pretended that tho stenographic report of Donaldson's testimony bore out its charge that Donaldson "caught the 'suckers.' and brought them along, and that his employer, Mr. Mulvey, did the rest." Lie No. 4. There is not the faintest hint of an)'thing of this sort in Donaldson 's testimony. More extensions could bo citod; but the weather is hot, tho game is insignificant, insig-nificant, and it isn't worth while to provo further the notorious fact that the Smoot "mouth" cannot be believed on any proposition. |
