One day, a well-to-do farmer In need of legal advice sought tho struggling attorney attor-ney with reference to a suit he deslrod to bring against a neighbor. Tho lawyer looked up tho statute and advised hl3 cllout what course to pursue. As the latter lat-ter rose to leave the office ho asked, "How much?" "Oh, say three dollars t" carelessly responded re-sponded tho lawyer. Whereupon the client proffered a fhe-dollar fhe-dollar bill. Tho lawyer appeared embarrassed. embar-rassed. Ho carefully searched his pockets pock-ets and the drawers of his desk without finding tho necessary change. Finally he met tho cxlgoncy by pocketing the bill and observing, as he reachod for a digest: "It would seem, Mr. Blank, that I shall have to give you two dollars' more worth of advice." |
