Tho Fourteenth National Irrigation Congress meets in Boiso on Monday, September 3rd next, and remains in session ses-sion tho wholo of the week, lioiso is making extraordinary efforts to provido sumptuously for the dolegatos, who aro expected to be grcalor in numbers and moro famous in station and prominence in public lifo than graced any previous pre-vious session of the Congress. 1c is not certain whether or not President Roosovclt will attend; If ho goes to San Francisco about tho timo of tho congress, an ho has partly planned to do, ho will probably drop in on tho congress at Boise, Vico-Presi-dont Fairbanks will certainly bo there, and so will moro United Stales Senators and Governors thnu hnvo over before attended any irrigation nssembhio. An imposing array of dignitaries is thus asured for tho congress, and Boiso is preparing lo do full honor to each and all. A very strong board of control of local arangoments has boon named, comprising com-prising John McMillnn, chnirmniij Gen-ornl Gen-ornl ."Joseph Porrault, secretary; C. O. Anderson, treasurer; C. B. Hurtt, Bishop A. .1. Glorious, Leo P. Grun-baum. Grun-baum. J. II. Hutchinson, Edgar Wilson, Montio B. Gwinn and "W. T. Booth. The board is providing a fund of $20,000 with which lo entertain tho congress, and many attractive features wi 11 bo carried out for tho instruction and en-lortainmcnt en-lortainmcnt of the delegates. Tho sessions of this congress will bo in tho Park Theater; a two-story pavilion pavil-ion adjoining will bo used, tho lower story for u cafo, and tho upper for an industrial exhibit and information bureau bu-reau for Idaho, A specially constructed building will afford an exhibition of tho products of irrigation, in which tho arid States wil competo for premiums. It is understood that tho competition for the cup awarded at Ogden for tho best fruit exhibit will bo especially keen. A congress of this kind at Bolso is practical!- a homo proposition for all Utah people. It is not only incumbent incum-bent upon all of us to do what wo can for its success on general linos, but wo should support tho meeting with all the energy and enthusiasm thnt we would give to it if it woro hold in Utah. Our interests aro in common with tho39 of Idaho, nnd both coincide in depending on irrigation as tho groat basis of their agriculture, So, a boost for Boiso and the congress! Lot the Utah delegation be packed well and every man a host in himself. |
