Show STORM WILL HURT SHEEP Snow of Sunday Will Cause Losses to Flockmastors. Sunday, April 1. or "April Fool day," was too much for tho local wcathor bureau. The passing of the lion of March and tho coming of spring show-era show-era failed In tholr dates, and Sunday was a mid-winter nffalr from the triple standpoint stand-point of wind, snow and cold. Saturday's forecast of "showers and colder" was correct so far as tho coldor was concerned. Tho showers would bo correct also If the weather languago was adjusted so that a Bevcrc snowstorm could bo designated as "showers of snow." The day was such that but few pooplo wero astir and not a single "April fool trick" was attempted, so useless was It to compete with the weather In the act of playing pranks. While the otorm was not so severe as that which occurred on March 1, the results re-sults will bo more Berlous. especially to sheepmen on account of tho fact that sheep aro weaker than they w'ero a month ago, their wool Is longer and will hold more molsturo, and, tho. weather being be-ing not so cold, tho snow melted on their backs and overloaded them, so that a greater number would be overcome with the weight they are compelled to carry, and would 11c down and bo chilled to death. It Is feared from this source the losses will bo exceedingly heavy. |
