Show A MAINE ENTERTAINMENT. Lewlaton (Me.) Journal. A novel party given the other day by a small company of original young peo-pleple peo-pleple of Bowdolnham has received the unusual title of an onion party, and met such favor that It will soon be repeated. Tho things requisite for the success of such an entertainment are an open fire, plenty of onions, butter, pepper nnd salt, and, best of all, a congchlul set of onion eaters, who mind not the pungent pun-gent odor of the bill of fare. The largo onions are preferable, and after careful selection these are banked In ashes and slowly roasted, the guests beguiling the Interval of waiting by story telling, nt which art all the company pf this recent festivity are proficient. When the onions are thoroughly roasted they are taken from the ashes, their outer skin peeled off, and they are then ready for eating. Well besprinkled with salt and pepper, nnd an unlimited amount of butter, this feast of onions received the warmest praise from the young guests, who Intend to give a series of onion parties through the remainder of the winter. |
