Show BAST WAS TEMPTED. Man in Hard Luck Pronounced Guilty Guil-ty by Jury. "Guilty aB charged," was the verdict rendered by the Jury in the case of the State vs. C. D. Bash yesterday morning. morn-ing. Bash was charged with robbery. Judge Lewis fixed Saturday morning for sentence. Bash and one J. 12. Driscoll were charged with having robbed one Anton VIdlk In the rear of a saloon near the Short Line depot on October 1. Driscoll was granted a separate trial, and Is now out on ?300 bond. Driscoll has been in the Police court several times, but has always managed to evade conviction. The police think they have a sure case against him this time. The charge against Bash was proved without dlfllculty. Bash has played In very hard luck. Not very long ago he lost his leg in aii accident. He was thrown out of a position. He then had to spend a few months In the hospital on account of pneumonia- Shortly after he came out of the hospital his wife died. He took lo drinking and was on his uppers when he met Driscoll in the saloon. The police po-lice say that if It had not been for Driscoll, Bash would not have attempted the trick, bijt was desperate and therefore there-fore easily persuaded. |
