Several of the men summoned were excused, and an objection to one was made on the ground that his property wa3 assessed to a corporation, und not In his own name, and was overruled. Young Weber's counsel questioned the talesmen as to whether they had any prejudice against the accused on account ac-count of anything they had heard or read concerning the case or If they were connected with the Placer county bank. No challenges have yet been made. Adolph Weber's demeanor Is about the same as usual. There Is rather more color In hlB face than heretofore, and he shous an evident unwillingness to meet the eyes of spectators. |
