Show MINERS TO DRILL AT ELKS' REUNION THE miners of the State will have an opportunity to. show their speed and skill In a drilling contest con-test the first day of the Elks' reunion re-union at Provo next month. Two prizes aggregating 5250 are to be hung up for the conteat. The winners are to receive re-ceive $150 and the second team $100. A block of tho hardest granite in the State Is to bo used. Miners from every camp or city in Utah are Invited to compete for the money. The rules governing the contest will be the same as those usually followed in an exhibition exhibi-tion of that kind. A trout dinner and a strawberry festival fes-tival will be two other 0 the many features of the entertainment to be arranged ar-ranged for Elks and visitors alike. The former will be served upon the shores of Provo lake under the spreading branches of trees in the grove where the National Guard hold Its encampment last year. It will be free for those who enjoy fish, especially when It Is cooked upon the shores of the water. Tho berry feast will be held the next day. The best cream and the purest of sugar will be servwl, and Provo's prettiest girls will ofllciatc. At the meeting of the executive committee com-mittee of the State Association of Elks In Provo. many matters pertaining to the secret part of the reunion were decided de-cided upon. Tho constitution and bylaws by-laws were discussed, and settled. Tho order of business for the convention was arranged. It provides for a one-dajr one-dajr session. That will enable the delegates dele-gates and visiting Elks to devote tho second day to enjoying the hospitality of the Provo lodge and the Commercial club of that city. Almost the last thing will be the election of officers, nnd the selection of the 1005 convention city. Park City has withdrawn from the race. As Salt Lake City does not want it next year, the contest will be between Oden and Eureka. |
