Show SCHOOL BOARD LAND TRADE PLAN TO GET LARGER SIT FOR NEW SCHOOL Negotiations for an Exchange With the Francis Armstrong Estate lAke ly to Be Carried Through I The Board of Education da committee com-mittee of the vhole was to have met yesterday ir Oscar W Moylts office to talk over a proposed change of school building sites from the corner at Stale and North Temple streets to the lot adjoining on the north The latter isr > 10x22 rods owned by the Francis Armstrong estate and the cx fFrlncls onSeslale eculor Is ready to trade even for the 12x12 rod site owned by the board at the corner There was not a quorum at the meeting those present being Newman Gcoghegan Glauque and Moyle to whom was added later Nelden and Architect Ar-chitect Plnney Tho members repaired to the location loca-tion under discussion and the members mem-bers seemed to agree after carefully examining the situation that It would be bqst to make the trade On the corner sile a schoolhouse large enough for present needs would have to be three stories high which the Iruslce did not think at all advisable On the larger lo the schoolhouse would not need lobe but two stories high though tho lay 01 the land Is such that at the west end a basement story can be built for the steamheating plant storage rooms etc The playgrounds play-grounds would be to the west of tho struclure The plan Is to build n brick and cut stone sehoolhouse to cost 50000 There will be a meeting of the board aa a committee of the whole at 930 this morning In Mr Moylcs ofllce when It Is believed that the proposed transfer of properties will bo made One strong argument offered In favor of the transfer Is that It will keep the children off the street car track on North Temple street |
