Show JEWISH OMEN Second Day Devoted to Beading Reports Re-ports and Papers Now York Nov 16The second days session of the first conference of the Council of Jewish Women was called to order today at 10 oclock in Tuxedo hall Mrs Hanna G Solomon president of the council presided and there was a large attendance of delegates The first business transacted was the reports of different committees The report re-port of the recording secretay was read I reviewed the history of the council and showed that i was the outgrowth of the womans congress at the Worlds fair I stated that the two main committees are those of religion and philanthropy the principal lines of work of the council The report of the corresponding secretary secre-tary was received with applause and adopted As Mrs Bertha Sells the secr tary was unable to appear the report was read by Mrs Conrad WHkowsky of Chicago The report showed the finances of the council to be in a flourishing condition Tne next report was that of the committee com-mittee on rules which was read by the mitee chairman Mrs S D Levy of Milwaukee I char committee recommended that all delegates wear badges and that the I time of discussion b limited to three I minutes and that each delegate be entitled e isd e3n ifilteto 7 titled to one vote This was adopted The next business was the reading or the report of the vicepresidents At the conclusion of the reports of the vicepresidents recess was taken reces tenOn ten-On assembling Mrs Nellie Miller of asemblng Memphis delvered an address on The Council Its Advantages Needs and difficulties A general discussion on the subject followed folowe conclusion of the discussion a concuson adjournment was taken until 8 oclock i At the night session Mrs Sadie American Ameri-can of Chicago read the report of the corresponding secretary The report stated that 15000 copies of seven pamphlets I pamph-lets have been distributed through the secretarys office Mrs Rachel Sulzberger of this city then read a caper entitled The Council in i Large rapr and was followed by Mrs I Etta L Nussbaum of Marion Ind on The Council In Small Cities until After tomorrow discussion the session adjourned |
