Show ANOTHER CHICKEN STORY I Quartz and Gold Found In the Digestive Di-gestive Organs of a Fowl A few days ago The Herald made mention of the finding of a gold nug I get in the crop of a chicken by a man I by the name of Brown and the news of the discovery has evidently had a j stimulating effect on the owners of i poultry as now every time that a i chicken is sacrificed on the chopping i block its interior workings are carefully examined in the hope of finding a cleanup clean-up of gold ready for the retort or the mint I It is an old saying that labor will have its own reward or words to that effect and word was received yesterday yester-day that a resident of Sugar House ward had not made investigations in this direction in vain as he is able to I show a piece of quartz threeeighths of an inch long and an eighth of an Inch thick onethird of which is pure I gold and this he took out of the craw of a chicken which graced his table for Sundays dinner The gentleman in question has been I hauling gravel from two places and he is satisfied that he knows where the I auriferous stuff comes from and he will not rest until satisfied as to the I source of the gold Part of the gravel came from Emigration Emi-gration canyon and it is believed that the formation there is not only favorable I favor-able to gold but that extensive placer deposits will eventually be found there and it is stated on good authority that I colors can be found all the way from the canyon as far south as Draper It is barely more than a year ago since there was considerable excitement over the alleged discovery of gold and silver placer diggings in Mill Creek canyon several miles south of Salt Lake and while investigations in that direction were not pushed as they should have been the impression prevails pre-vails that with more thorough examination i examin-ation and the expenditure of a little labor and money a second Klondike I would be disclosed almost at our very doors I In the crops of other chickens examined exam-ined by the resident of Sugar House ward above referred to pieces oL the I same character of quartz were found I but no gold |
