Show ALASKA BUSINESS I Canadian Pacific I Heady t Gobble Gob-ble It Chicago Jan 17The western roads are beginning to modify their estimates of the number of people who will be J < u h 4 i bound for Alaska in the spring The business has already begun to move In I I a small way but from all the evidence i which the roads have been able to j gather the total number of tickets that I 1 will be sold on account of the Alaska I I business will not be over 100000 The I estimates of some of the general passenger I pas-senger agents would double this but i the chances are now that 100000 will i be the outside figure No agreement has been reached with the Canadian Pacific regarding the differential rate which that road claims on the Alaska clams I business nor is one likely to be reached in the near future The Canadian Pacific i contracting I for a large share of this business and will doubtless continue to get It no I matter what rates are made by its i competitors The latter have not made taI any reduced rates as yet on acount of I the low rates made by the Canadian Pacific Pa-cific but say that they will do so soon I a the business is sufficient large to I warrant any cutting of rates |
