Show NO OBSTACLES TO RELIEF I Every Dollar Sent By Amercians Will Be Properly Distributed Washington Jan nThe state department de-partment has taken official notice of complaints alleging that the Spanish officials in Cuba had been placing obstacles ob-stacles In the way of the free admission admis-sion of food and other supplies sent to Cuba for the relief of the suffering I While the officials believe that there is no sod foundation for these complaints com-plaints acablegram has been sent to General Lee directing him to Investigate Investi-gate their correctness and If necessary neces-sary prevent any delays In the landIng land-Ing of shipments of stores i it Is possible pos-sible to do so The following statement was issued from the state department today I The call having been made by the president for money and supplies for the suffering Cubans and some doubt seeming to exist that money and supplies sup-plies donated In response to such call may not be honestly and Impartially donated to the suffering people for whom the donations were made it Is j thought proper to give this public no ge lice in the way of an assurance that all such donations will be distributed I through Consul General Lee and duly authorized agents cooperating with I I him in Cuba No doubt is entertained I b the president or by the secretary of state that every dollar and every article of clothing for the benefit of the suffering tributed In Cuba will be properly dis |
