Show FIRE ON MARKET ROWI HEPWOBTH7S BUTCHER SHOP I DAMAGED TO EXTENT OF S400 Back Part of the Premises Was Gutted Gut-ted Before the Alarm Was Received Re-ceived at the Fire Department This morning about 230 oclock an alarm was turned in from the box on the corner of West Temple and First South streets The fire department responded re-sponded promptly and the fire was found tQ be In the rear of the butcher shop of T Hepworth Sons at the east end of the market row The fire was raging in the back part of the shop which was entirely gutted before it was extinguished The fire was discovered by Mr Brazier Bra-zier who runs a small fruit store next door to Hepworths He was asleep in the back part of the tore and heard a crackling sound which awoke him He discovered smoke issuing from the room next to him and Immediately he picked up his clothing and ran out on the street crying Fire Sergeant Wire heard the cry and sent in the alarm The damages are thought to be about 400 The fire was caused by a stove which was left burning in the bacT part of the shop and in some way the frame building caught fire from it The I books and other office fixtures and the entire contents of the room were destroyed r strayed and the back part of the shop I was badly damaged I |
