Show I ANOTHER BIG GUSHER A Gas Well Registering 335 Pounds per Inch I I I DRIVER REJOICETH MUCH I FUTtRE OF THE NATURAL GAS BUSINESS XQV ASSURED ASJRED The Deepest Well of All ShOWN Up in Grain Style Prominent Men Go Ont amid Look at the Great Spout crhe Xcwn Creates Great Excitement I Ex-citement in the City I Aint she a daisy This was the expression used yesterday yester-day by H L Driver at the natural II gas wells near Lake Shore j There were few people in ithe city i who were aware of the fact yesterday yester-day morning but last night it was I common talk that another gusher has been struck and that a sort of general celebration will be indulged in tonight at the office of the company I com-pany on Second South street east of Hills drug storE where a whole lot of flambeaus and torches stoves and grates will be lit up for the edification edifica-tion o the dear people who have never seen the gas tested in the way it is used in the home Three weeks ago the gas was struck gs in this last well at i depth of 250 feet But Driver was far from being satisfied satis-fied with the result although a test showed that the pressure was over 200 pounds He determined to go on About that time the men lost a tool I and a week was spent in getting the j thing out The remaining two weeks the men said nothing but under the I personal supervision of Driver himself him-self they drilled away with vigor and Sunday at adepth of 956 feet struck a strata of gas which raised a commotion com-motion Tools and other matters flew in the air andfor a time the situation was a lively one Finally however the cap was gotten got-ten on and the flow checked Yesterday 11 Driver accompanied I by Manager Hayward of the Salt Lake and Ogden Gas and Electric I Light company J F Woodman W C Hall and several other parties who I are interested took a trip to the well and tested it Previous to this the testing machine was carefully examined I ex-amined and found to be all right Arriving Ar-riving at the place the apparatus was I applied and showed a pressure of 335 I pounds to the square inca This assures I as-sures the people of the city of a supply sup-ply of gas for nearly every purpose and will stop the croakers who have been wondering whether the gas would hold out The news spread over the city with lightning like rapidity and soon every ev-ery one on the streets waa talking of the new find All agree that it is one of the greatest events in the history of the city I is said that the members mem-bers of the chamber of commerce will take steps to revive the matter of the celebration and that in view of this last discovery all feel that something should be done to advertise the recent j re-cent acquisition to the many other natural advantages of Sat Lake I eltv I eltvThe last well is i the largest of the I I entire number of wells seven in number j num-ber and it assures the parties interested inter-ested that their labor has not been in vain Mr Driver said last night that he was confident now that the American Ameri-can Natural Gas company was a permanent per-manent affair and that the future of Salt Lake as a manufacturing center was assurred I There has been many attempts to throw cold water on the enterprise I lie said but all the croakers will j now have to day down their hands r I is almost too late to say I told you so but I will just the same I I have said all along that we had it I and now I am proven to be correct I am goir home and eat fried chicken I comes high but we have I to have I Everything is now lovely |
