Show TO PROTECT FISH Commissioner Heath Asks thi Court for Wire Screens Fish and Game Commissioner Heath has asked the county selectmen and they have it on the tab in the star chamber cham-ber session to allow him to place a lot of fish screens in Big Cottonwood creek for the protection of the trout there Heath says that right now the trout are going up the creek to spawn and that many of them are of the largest kirn1 Up tif this year the ditches have been CT loweu to remain open and as a result the fluids of the farmers have caught all the wy from 1000 to 2000 pounds of trout each year THe fish would get in there the waiter would be shut off and they would die This Is a sad state of affairs as the trout thus caught are the largest The small ones do not try to get back to the river after spawning If Heath is allowed to put In screens he says that in two years time the fishing in Cottonwood will be as good as it was twenty years ago The cost will be in his opinion about 330 and will save in fish many thousands of dollars every year Judge McNally Is in favor of going to the expense and asa as-a trip down there to look at the matter will be an excuse to make some mileage It is fair to presume that the selectmen will join in Parleys canyon so Mr Heath says is looking up in the matter of fish since the runways have been fixed and many large ones have already gone up thereto there-to spawn He says the run is on now and will continue for two weeks yet |
