Show NOTABLE ASSEMBLAGE I ARBCEPTIOX TENDERED THE DISTINGUISHED DIS-TINGUISHED LADY VISITORS I j Mrs Anthony Rev Anna Suavr Mrs Mary C C Bradford anti airs L 31 Staiislmry the Guests of Honor Other Social Matters That was a notable assemblage at the home of Hon and Mrs Richards yesterday yester-day afternoon to do honor to Miss Susan Bo Anthony Rev Anna Shaw Mrs Dry C C Bradford and Mrs Lyle Meredith Mer-edith Stansbury In the receiving line were pioneers in the cause of qual suffrage and officers of church and state and the professional business and social domains were represented repre-sented by the 30 guests from the city Ogden and Provo who paid their compliments com-pliments to the four distinguished ladles Mr and Mrs Richards Miss Anthony Governor West Miss Shaw Hon George Q Cannon Mrs Bradford Secretary Richards Mrs Stansbury and Mrs Em incline B Wells standing in the order named received the guests Everyone is familiar with the record of Miss Anthony An-thony and Miss Shaw Mrs Bradford was the Democratic candidate for superintendent super-intendent of public instruction in Colorado Colo-rado last fall and Mrs Stansbury was D nominee of the Democratic and Populist parties for the legislature of the same state Captain Howard Stansbury who is said to have made the first survey in Utah and in whose honor the island in Great Salt lake was named i Mrs Stansburys fatherinlaw t After a cordial greeting from the host and hostess and the distingished ladies the guests were further entertained by Mrs H P Henderson Mrs Priscilla Jennings Mrs W W Riter Mrs Mary T Gilmer Miss Gilmer Miss Lucile Gil mer Mrs Rachel Miller Mrs Nellie Little Lit-tle and Mrs Frank Jennings Mrs C W Bennett presided at the coffee urn in the dining room and refreshments re-freshments were served by Mrs Fred Scarf Miss Farnsworth Miss Judd Miss Hoge Miss Weller Miss Teasdel Miss Grace Young Miss Ladle Young and Miss Maud Dewoodey The drawing rooms of the handsome home were adorned with white and green lillies being e prominent feature of the decorations The draperies candelabra can-delabra shades flowers and napery in the dining room made a lovely picture in white and yellow The young ladles who served were attired in the same shades shdes I T 3t O A Entertainment The Young Mens Mutual Improvement association of the Tenth ward was invited in-vited to take charge of the regular weekly entertainment at the Y M C A gymnasium last evening and presented Ian I-an interesting programme to a large I audience I I The opening number was a vocal quartette quar-tette Star of the Night by Mrs Nida Fuller Duncan Miss Mary Smelley Mr James Poll and Mr Fred Fuller Mr A J Higgs who presided gave an address on The Organization Object Ob-ject and Worth of the Mutual Improvement Improve-ment Association stating that tho membership of the young mens branch of that organization to be 12000 Miss Maud Harris sang sweetly Bring Back My Loved One toMe An address on the Rise ana Progress of the Mormon Church was made by Mr R Hiller Jr A baritone solo by Albert Braby concluded con-cluded the programme although that gentleman was repeatedly encored At the close of the entertainment the audience was given the freedom of theY the-Y M C A rooms and a pleasant half hour was spent in social chat |
