Show Glasiiiuiis CrimlunJ Libel The appeal case of The People of the Territory vs William Glasman appellant from the Fourth district court Judge Smith presiding was argued ar-gued by Judges Miner and Rhodes for the appellant and Assistant Attorney Maginnis for the people The defendant was indicted for the publication of an article in the Odgen Standard of which he is the owner on October 30 1894 attacking the character char-acter of L R Rogers who was a con didate for election to the constitutional convention on March 6 1895 The Standard Publishing company and Glasman were each found guilty and Judge Smith sentenced them to each pay a fine of 500 The defendants moved for a new trial which was denied de-nied and the appeal from that ruling was taken Twentyseven specifications of errors in the admission of evidence and the exclusion of other evidence and in instructions to the jury were urged as reasons for reversal Their honors took the case under advisement |
