| Show I FOURTH DISTRICT COURT In the district court yesterday the I following orders were entered 7 The People vs Bill Roberts plea of not guilty withdrawn and plea of guilty L t entered Time for sentence waived ands prisoner sentenced to one year in the s I penitentiary Thmas G Akers vs Colorado and Utah Canning company ordered that United States release all canned toma fitoes levied upon and directed to hold balance of property levied upon A E Barnes vs M D Cox i appeal l fixed at 31000 Ogden Savings bank vs Evelyn C Brown et aL on motion of Evans St Rogers attorneys for plaintiff odered that action be dismissed at cost of plaintiff The People vs David F Jenkins continued con-tinued for the term In re estate of James Burrup deceased de-ceased hearing on petition set for April SIn S-In the case of The People vs R L Murray a jury was called and the case tried This was a case growing out of a row among colored gentlemen at the Senate saloon last December wherein the defendant used a razor on another gentleman as the indictment charged with attempt to commit murder The defendant in explanation said that I the prosecuting witness had made an attempt to carve him with a razor OTKd while struggling to prevent the vyfcher fellow from doing him up he just thought he would cut open the top of his hat to let his assailant know that he had something to cut with also It so happened remarked the defendant that the fellows head stuck up further fur-ther than I thought in that hat and the consequence Was I cut his head open The jury after hearing the evidence I snd argument of counsel returned a verdict of assault with intent to do bodily harm |
