GOVERNOR 31COXXELL IlERE Holds a Consultation with Senator Brown ana Departs Governor W J McConnell of Idaho paid a hurried visit to Salt Lake yesterday yes-terday He came in In the morning held a consultation with Senator Arthur Brown In the afternoon and was gone again in the evening before more than a very few knew he had been here He declined to give out the subject of his visit but numerous con jectures were made for it was of course considered it was a political mission he was on and coming so closely upon the heels of the St Louis convention and his telegram to that bOdy that Idaho would stand firm for McKinley notwihsanding that her delegation dele-gation bolted it is supposed that his visit here and his conference with Mr Brown means that the two supporters of the Ohio man are already laying plans to hold their states in line Senator Brown when seen last evening even-ing declined to state the object of Governor McConnelis visit merely saying say-ing that he was on his way east and stopped off for the day
