Show BEGISTEATION JNTOBHATION Legal Opinion On When Transfers Are Required and When liot For the information and guidance of registration agents in the work next Tuesday City Recorder Backman has obtained through the county clerk the following opinion from County Attorney Attor-ney Putnam on the laws provisions as to when transfer certificates for voters vot-ers are required and when not required a a prerequisite to registration and transmitted a copy of the same to registration reg-istration agents Answering your request of this date for an opinion with reference to whether qualified electors moving from one precinct Qr municipal ward to another an-other must produce certificates of > transfer from the registration officer in the district where they were formerly registered in order to entitle them to be registered in the new elction district into which thy have moved we are clearly of the opinion that no such certificate cer-tificate of transfer is required When a oter removes from one precinct or municipal ward to another he is in the same position as if he had moved from outside the county or the state I he can take the oath required by law he is entitled to be registered irrespective of any previous registration The certificates cer-tificates of transfer contemplated by section 512 of the revised statutes 5ecton 11 reYise sttute apply ap-ply only to cases of removals from one district to another within the same precinct or municipal ward |
