Show OGDEN BADLY BEATEN Denver Wheel ClubWins By Big Sore Special to The Herald Denver Colo Oct 28The men from Ogden were outclassed on the gridiron today by the players of the Denver Wheel club The score was 46 to 0 in I I favor of the Denver team five touchdowns downs were made in the first half and I three in the second Six out of the I eight goals v yere kicked At no time during the game did the Ogden team I have any chance of making a touchdown touch-down Beckwith made a pretty try for a fiftyyard goal kick from the field He missed by only three yards hiss his-s the only time the Denver goal was threatened Beckwith until his knee was injured near the close of the last cose half played a strong game He was in ever play and hit the line and tackled with force and sureness But he had little aid from the other mem hers of the team The Ogden men showed lack of practice poor teamwork team-work and no ability to get around the ends They confined their plays to line bucks and in those they were not successful suc-cessful Scudder and Adney aside from Beckwith did the best work The Wheel club had difficulty in going through the Ogden Jine but made its longest gains around the end Six min utos before time in the last half the upthe unequal m Ogden test men gave up ByAssociated Press Denver Oct 2STlie Denver lie club eleven defeated the team from Ogden Og-den Utah thisafternoon at D W C park by a score of 46 to 0 The game was played in twentyfive minute halves The Wheel club team had the advantage of Ogden in weight being heavier man for man with the exception excep-tion of the center However the Wheel club ld but little advantage over Ogden Og-den in bucking and holding the line The men behind the line for D W C were given the most work and they performed it well and a number of lines in a brilliant manner The Powers brothers and Walker backs and left end Foote all made brilliant runs and the run of Ernest Power when he carried car-ried the ball from Ogdens fiveyard line across the field to goal was highly sensational i sen-sational D W C had no trouble ingoing i in-going around Ogdens ends and with 1 going perfect interference the ball was landed land-ed behind the goal posts several times after thirty and fortyyard runs The j first touchdown was made in ten minutes 1 fnt utes after play began and the second I three minutes later the latter in such a manner as to take the breath away from the Ogden boys Half back Walker Walk-er received the ball and after running a few yards passed it back to Foot who continued the play for goal Foote was well on his way before Ogden missed him The game was noticeably and and free from rough play andslugging Ogdens defeat was due primarily to the I fleetness of the Wheel clubs backs and the clockwork interference put up I against them 1 |
