| Show I PACIFIC SHORT LINE I is Sold at A net ion for Two I Million Dollars i Trustees G W Vickershsm and A S Garret SOl Hid It In The GrIt Northern ll irobably Control it I i OM OA Neb Oct 23SpecI1 telegram Ito I-to THE HEPALDJ The Pacific Short Lino was sold this morning to George W Wick ersham and A S Garretson as trustees j for 2000000 These gentlemen represent the holders of the 25S3OOO in bonds of tho j road and are understood to be backed by i the Manhattan Trust company of New i i York E P Reynolds jr was there representing i j i rep-resenting E P Reynolds Co the contractors j con-tractors who graded tho road and who have 1 a claim of 60000 for labor A few of the i i other claimants were also represented but their number was not so great as on the I former occasion when the sale was advertised I adver-tised The claims against the road amount to about 5325000 The receiver called for i I bids and Mr Wickorsham bid 2000000 1 There was no opposition The sale will probably be confirmed and the road turned over to the purcUasers about November 1 i was understood by them that the purchasers pur-chasers were backed by the Manhattan Trust company and some of them expressed the op nion that J M Hill the Great Northern man had a hand in the matter The fact that the traffic manager of the Sioux City Northern a Hill road was present added color to the theory and the road will be under the control of the Great Northern if it is not owned outright by that company Bonds to the amount of = 25b3000 had been issued at about t > 5 cents und Messrs Garrotson and Wickorsham bought them in for 50 cents or less |
