Show The Fourteenth At the Fourteenth ward ratification last night I a large and enthusiastic assemblage gathered Shortly after the opening of the meeting standing room only was to be had The Gat ling band opened tho proceedings by playing The Concert Waltz Dream on the Ocean and a cornet solo F H Taylor presided Our next mayor Spencer Clawson was introduced to the large assemblage The applause that followed the mention of his came was a caution to the ceiling The Hon James H Moyle was introduced though the storms of applause with which he was received showed he was no stranger stran-ger Music by the Guitar and Mandolin club They received a hearty welcome By special request they gave Where did You Get That Hat Bag Carpet bag Mr Clawson having to go to another ward three cheers were given Mr Moyle resumed his remarks His address was replete with striking points The Catling band gave another choice selection Those present attested their appreciation with hearty applause A communication from Hon I M Wells stated his regret at not being present pres-ent circumstances directed otherwise However How-ever he felt to ratify with us in his feelings and spoke hopefully of victory on Monday next S A Kenner made a short though brilliant speech in his own inimitable style The ratification was hearty and wholesouled The hall was neatly decorated The Young Ladies Relief corps lent a beautiful charm to the audience with their pretty costumes of red white and blue The uniformed marching club made a strong background The enthusiasm was of a healthy tone |
