| Show The Trial of Eyraud and GabrIele PARIS Dec 16The trial of Michael I Eyraud and Gabrielle Bompard for the murder of Gouffe began today Great interest in-terest was manifested and the court room was densely crowded During the reading of the indictment both defendants demotion d-emotion The president of the court gave in detail the history of Eyrauds career showing him to have been a bad character since his early boyhood When Eyraud was brought to the stand he narrated how Gabrielle proposed to got Gouffo to her house murder and rob him Heave He-ave every detail of the crime telling how Gouffe was sitting down with Gubrielle on his knee and fondling her when the noose with which he was strangled was thrown around his neck Gabrielle declared all the details of tho murder were planned by Eyraud and that he influenced her In a colloquy between the defendants Eyraud stoutly maintained that Gabriele throughout was cognizant of the intended murder The woman stoutly denied his assertions Later Eyraud told of his visit to America in company with Gabriele The latter asserted that when they arrived in San Francisco they were at the end of their resources and Eyraud contemplated murder and robbery with a view of getting a fresh supply of funds Eyraud denied this |
