| Show IDAHO i Our Boise correspondent this morning in an interesting communication tells all about the movement mentioned in these columns on Saturday to down Mr FRED DUBOIS for the UnitedcStates Senatorship TIE HERD h known for some time what was going on and has been surprised that the hero of Bingham county ballot box frauds did not tumble to the racket and make certain of the coveted place But i our correspondent correct in his political estimates it is not improbable that Idaho will return to her Democratic allegiance in spite of her promises and in defiance of the Republican schemers and the traitors in the Democratic ranks At tie Delegate election two years ago the Mormons being disfranchised and the Re lublicans having control of the election machinery Mr Dnuois majority was only 2S9 in n total vote of 16023 the vote of Mr HAWLEY Democratic candidate being 0404 and that of Judge BUCK divisionist 1453 It is probable that some of BUCKS supporters were Republicans and it is certain cer-tain that a good many Democrats voted for Douois Since then the Democrats have Lad their eyes opened to the fact that they were being used catspaws to draw chestnuts chest-nuts from the ashes for Republicans The full force of daylight ha been brought to bear upon the plot to make the state irrevocably ocably Republican the Democrats have been made to see what asses they were making of themselves and the determinqr tion is growing among the that they must put forth every effort regain the ground they have lost by playing into the hands of Duuois and h Republican conspirators The game may have been played too far it is possible that the Republicans have already taken too many tricks but it is no sure thing that the Democrats will be unable un-able to recover their birthright especially i there shall arise dissensions in the Republican Repub-lican ranks as now seem probable Unfortunately Mr DUBOIS is in a sense master of the situation In a free and fair fight any good Republican or any good Democrat could beat him for any office in the gift of the people he is aware of this fact fully understanding understand-ing how unpopular he is with the intelligent intelli-gent masses and he may therefore use his position and power as Delegate to coerce co-erce the politicians into complying with his demands and giving him what he wants I is with him to say whether or not statehood state-hood shall be granted and it is believed that he is just the kind of man to make the admission of the territory dependent upon getting the Senatorship in which event the statecrazy Democrats and Republicans Republi-cans would be likely r submit During the coming few months Idaho will present an interesting spectacle to everybody |
