and enterprise that was t1 where manifest There are about thirty live artesian wells which have a deptn of from 140 to 31S feet and the aver ago flaw of forty gallons per minute The wuer Is free from the mineral and sulphuric sul-phuric flavors with which a number of the artesian wells in other parts of the valley are impregnated and is cold and pleasant The ditches with which the streets are I lines are supplied from these wells and a I canal about ten feet in width and carrying a volume of water from two t three feet in depth supplies all the water necessary for irrigation purposes Ono advantage which this locality possesses over many others is the facility with which artesian water may be obtained a good flow being secured anywhere from 120 t 15 feet Several thousand FltlIT AND convenient for those who prefer t ride into town in their buggies instead in-stead of on the train or electric car it being the direct way to town There are a large number of residences already built some very neat and attractive attrac-tive structures and there are quite a num l > er in course of construction Mr Ed Senior is about to build a handsome residence resi-dence for himself to cost not less than ten thousand dollars while many others luffglugln cost from two to five thousand dollars are about to be commenced A large brick building is used as a schoolhouse school-house and was greatly taken advantage of by the residents of the locality during the winter session The foundation of tRACC LUTHERAN CHURCH is already laid and the building promises t be aneat imposingediflce It will bo built of brick with stone facings and will cost 2 O exclusive of the block on which it HOTEL BRIGHTON is a fine structure just completed and fitted up in good style It comprises a largo passenger trains daily makes Brighton easy of access and as convenient con-venient t residents as if they resided in the city proper All these and many more improvements are under way or in contemplation prin cjpal among which will be a lovely park of flftvelve acres I will be laid out in elegant design and a pond will be kept supplied with water from artesian wells Rustic teats summer houses and a pavilion will also adorn the grounds a gounds For all these reasons Brighton claims t be the leading addition to Salt Lake City and the most forcible evidence of the favorable favor-able estimation in which it is held is the fact that nearly all of the lots have been sold and among the investors are number num-ber runny of the shrewdest business men of this city Not only this but the neighboring neigh-boring states and territories arc well represented repre-sented The blocks are 300x300 feet and are divided by alleyways twenty feet wide I The lots are 25x140 feet and the streets run I north and south and east and west The healthfulness of the locality is also beyond a doubt Situated on high land a gentle zephyr continually tempers the heat of the sun and makes it pleasant t be out even at the warmest time of day Tho ground being dry no malariabreeding swamps are found and the water is pure and good I is undoubtably one of the prettiest situated suburbs of the city the view bcingcspccially grand Away t the west the Oqnirrh range of mountains and the great den sea and to the cast and northeast lies the city and sheltering peaks of the Wasatch range stand like sentinels sen-tinels of all time Away t the south the snowciad summit of Mount Nebo appears in view and the mountains beyond the Utah Lake which is almost discernible complete the scene The management of Brighton has already al-ready spent about fifty thousand dollars in improving thcaddltion grading the streets and thous boring wells planting trees a and end one improvements that beautify and make desirable a place in which t mie a home and more will yet bo spent AH that can be done to make an already lovely spot more attractive will be done Aid together with the individual efforts of those who have made and those who will yet make it their home Brighton addition will before long rival nnv part of the city itself as a place where home lie can bo enjoyed en-joyed Cutoff and iu a measure isolated and yet close t the city the placo affords all the quiet and peace of a country residence I deuce with the facilities and advantages of city life as welL The city U gradually extending ex-tending westward and in time will reach out and absorb Brighton in its growth The value of the property is steadily increasing in-creasing During the past eighteen months lots have more than trebled in value and 1 considering the prosperity and appreciation J tion of realty which has marked the present J pres-ent if we would jude the future by the orescnt it will be seen tlat an investment Brighton which is within tho reach of 1 all must be prolific of get profit I is vain however to put wealth within the reach of him who will not put forth his hand t take it and all the arguments that might be advanced in favor of safe and profitable investment would be t him likewise in vain There arc those however how-ever who arc sharp and shrewd enough to take advantage of such opportunities as arc offered in Brighton and a word to the wise is sufficient |
