Show West Bountiful By ALICE MITCHELL 295-115 Everyone is getting ready "or- Christmas. Even the weather got ready for the big holiday as last Friday and Saturday brought the largest snowfall of the season. The roads were slick and hazardous, hazar-dous, but the skiers were jubilant, as the slopes became better than ever. The Thanksgiving feast and the new home of Carl and Sherrie Page were enjoyed by family members Dean and Sharon Salmon, Jane Page, Tom and Dixie Page and family, Mark and Elain Page, and Gam Rossell. Myra Lynn Salmon is recovering at home after hospitalization hos-pitalization for surgery. The Richard Pagets enjoyed en-joyed Thanksgiving with Mrs. Paget's family in Richfield. Mrs. Mary Watts was en- tertained at a surprise birthday birth-day party last Friday. Some 35 members of her family gathered at the home of the Dan Mitchells to pay her honor. Among those present were Diane and Woody Quilter and family; Dan and Allyson Taylor and family; Bruce and Alice Watts and family, Carol and Merlin Isaacson; daughter Sherrie; son Jeff and his wife, Darlene and their family; Bob and Mary Ellen Smith and family and the Dan Mitchells. Bud and Elva Stringham, son Bob and friend Megan; daughter LaVonne Williams and her husband, Dennis, and many members of the Stringham family were guests of honor at the induction induc-tion ceremony of the BYU Hall of Fame new members Stan Watts, Joe Nelson, Jack Stringham, Elwood Romney, and Rod Kimball. Jack Stringham was a fullback full-back for the BYU football team back in the 1930's and more importantly he is the brother of West Bountiful's own Bud Stringham. All of the guests enjoyed a banquet and program. Elder Paul Dunn was the principal speaker. Coach Glen Tuckett was the master of ceremony and part of the evening's entertainment en-tertainment was a brief "This is Your Life" of the new inductees. in-ductees. Celia and Albert Merrell enjoyed their Thanksgiving dinner in Sandy with their daughter Maria Ruckert and her family. Their daughter, Joyce Ann Virgin and her family visited in West Bountiful Boun-tiful during the holiday. The Kenneth Wellingtons are still remembering their recent visit to New York where they visited with their daughter Barbara and her family. During the Thanksgiving holiday they had as their guests Mr. and Mrs. Kent Messenger and family from Colorado; Mr. and Mrs. Brent Whipple and family from Kearns; Mr. and Mrs. Judd Andrus, Tacoma, Wash. The Lloyd Hogans had as guests for the holiday, Er-ma's Er-ma's mother, Erma Eldredge; sister, Eva Eldredge; Loyd's sister LaRue Lunsford and family; Erma's nephew and his family from California; Erma's Er-ma's niece and her husband i from California, and a niece and her husband and family : from Draper. The Charles Evans enter- 1 tained Mr. and Mrs. Perry Briscoe and family from Pocatello. Ida.; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Fenwick and family; and members of their own family. They celebrated their son's (Chuck) birthday last Sunday with a dinner for twenty guests. A welcome to West Bountiful Boun-tiful to Connie and Ken Harper and their family. We extend sincere sympathy sym-pathy to the family of the Ralph McQuistons in the death of his mother. We are sure she will be greatly missed. Stake Conference will be held the 8th and 9lh of December. David Pfeiffer and Warren King were presented their Duty to God Awards last Sunday Sun-day in Sacrament meeting in the West Bountiful Second Ward. Debbie Hammond was sustained to serve as a Primary teacher. Karen Cannon, Linda Paget, Patrice Mitchell and Gina Mitchell made the girls' basketball team of Viewmont High School. Cheryl Bangerter, daughter of Ron and Carol Bangerter, is planning a Feb. 15 wedding. wed-ding. Her fiancee is Fred Hale of Bountiful. The ward Christmas party in the Fourth Ward will be held on Dec. 14. The Second Ward scouts are busy with their Christmas tree project. They are being sold at the home of the John DeWaals on the corner of 4th North and 800 West. Everyone is invited to help the cause along, two hundred trees are a lot to sell. Mike Youngberg is in charge of the project. He and others went to southern Utah to cut all of the trees and stayed over night. Others assisting are Danny Broderick, John DeWaal, Dennis Williams, Wanless Southwick, Donald Fernelius, Gerald Brown and Deacons and scouts of the ward. The Paul Buys and their children enjoyed Thanksgiving Thanksgiv-ing at the home of Jewel's sister Melinda Bagnell and her husband Erwin in Bountiful. Boun-tiful. There were about 50 family members who attended attend-ed the open house. During the afternoon the Bagnell's daughter, Marcell, announced an-nounced her engagement. The Primary of the Second Ward is going to have their Christmas program on Dec. 18. The Ward Christmas party is scheduled for Dec. 21. The Primary party will h presented that night and Santa San-ta and some of his elves will make a visit. On Dec. 3, Phyllis Miller will give her story of how the Indians introduced popcorn to the Pilgrims to her son Alma's Al-ma's third grade class and to her daughter Ester's class. Mary Wild and Danna Mitchell will assist. The Bruce Moore family enjoyed Thanksgiving with grandparents Irv and Estelle Eames of Bountiful. The Brad Orgills were guests of Jim and Betty Orgill of Bountiful for the holiday. The entire Ron Bangerter crew went down to FairviS? to their ranch to hara Thanksgiving. This include the Jim Bangerters; the J.RI Bangerters; the David McSwains; the Mark McSwains. The Eugene SaJ; mons and their families were also in Fairview. They all erf: joyed snowmobiling. Dan Mitchell entered tte LDS Hospital last Saturday;, Open heart surgery was planned for Monday. The Earl Deppes enjoyed the holiday in Ogden with their son, DeVon, and his family. |
