Show Jeff Hickman To Attend Convention In Georgia On April 23-24, the Bountiful Bounti-ful High School section of the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America (VICA) traveled to Brigham Young University for the state competitions of various va-rious vocational areas offered by that particular club. LEADERSHIP competitions competi-tions were also held for the purpose of strengthening future fu-ture inductrial leadership and helping the students feel a JEFF HICKMAN great need for their services in the industrial world. While attending the convention, conven-tion, Jeff Hickman, who is treasurer for the BHS section, entered into the leadership competions in an area of prepared pre-pared speech and achieved the first place medal in that particular area for the second consecutive year. JEFF IS now preparing to attend the 1980 United States I Skill Olympics and Leadership ' competitions with other first place winners in Atlanta, Ga. I on June 23-28. I Jeff is a 1980 graduate from Bountiful High School. In the past, he has been actively in-i in-i volved with the VICA club and also served as a reporter and treasurer for the club. He has been actively involved in the forensic and debate programs and has achieved high success. HIS SPEECH deals with ani-' ani-' mated characters and experiences experi-ences which could be applied to almost any American citizen and attempts to show significance signifi-cance of the individuals contributions contri-butions to the industrial work force and management. He feels that every citizen ) should become involved with the industrial organizations ! and their needs as well as their own country. He also contends con-tends that the people should not just reap the benefits from the industrial community but that they should take an active interest in the working class instead in-stead of just sweeping them under the rug. HE WOULD like to thank the local industrial community for helping him in his industrial endeavors.
