Show Natives Of Thailand Schedule Events HILL AFB - The nearly 400 Natives of Thailand residing in Utah have scheduled a full slate of activities at Hill AFB on Saturday, April 8, celebrating the Thai New Year. THE celebration, open to the public, is called "Songkran." Translated the term means "Water Festival." Fes-tival." A religious service will start off the day beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the base Bicentennial Bicen-tennial Park picnic area. In case of bad weather, the services ser-vices will move to the base chapel. PRESIDING will be Buddhist monks from Wat Buddhawararam of Denver, Colo. In Thailand, Songkran is marked by a big Celebration. WATER IS generously sprinkled on friends. During the Southeast Asia conflict, many unsuspecting Americans were welcomed to the spring festival by a bucket of water. There will be ample buckets of water and much more at the cultural festival to be held at the base service club, beginning at 6 p.m. on Saturday. THE PROGRAM will include traditional Thai dances, a That boxing match, a fashion show, selected Thai food, and a sword fight for the finale. The Buddhist monks and lay leaders will be present to answer questions about cultural cul-tural or religious matters. THE CULTURAL show is by ticket only due to space limitations.
