Show 'Sound Of Music' To Start April 18 "The Sound of Music" is ready to go. APRIL 18, 19, 21 and 22 are the dates, Viewmont High School is the place. 8 p.m. is curtain time. A talented and enthusiastic cast has been working for many weeks to ready this show. Delores Hammond Pack is a perfect Maria, beautiful and talented, but she brings a spark and spirit to this role that is exciting. THE children, Liesl, Jill Johansen; Freiderick, Mark Smedley; Louisa, Cheri Thompsen; Marta, Vicki Snow; Kurt, Keith Jay Lud-wig; Lud-wig; Gretl, Mona Ray Hibbert; Hib-bert; and Brigetta, Fawna Gillette; respond to Maria's spirit and enthusiasm and they respond to the believable character that she portrays -a quality that draws the audience into the action. Breck England, also a seasoned actor, has become a Captain Von Trapp that you grow to love as he is taken in by Maria's warming influence. , THE MOTHER Abbess, Dawn Ballentyne; Sister Margaretta, Dorothy Pace Pratt; Sister Berthe, Marcia Hambleton; and Sister Sophia, Judy Wright; add atmosphere at-mosphere and quality as well, with their beautiful voices and sensitive portrayal of the Abbey atmosphere and influence. The scenes are laid in Austria, Aus-tria, early in 1938, and the story is built around a time incident in the lives of the Von Trapp family during the early years of world war II. THERE are many happy scenes that will steal the hearts of the audience - the children, Liesel and Rolf's boy-girl moments, the wedding wed-ding scene, the Kaltzberg Festival, all add up to a memorable and heart-warming performance. Other members of the cast are Max, Marvin Alexander; Elsa Schraeder, Valerie England; Herr Zeller, Ross Lundgren; Fran Schmidt, Gayle Hayes Nielsen; Admiral Ad-miral Von Schreiber, Bob Raymond; Franz, the butler, Dave Tucker. BOB Thompsen is the director, a man with experience in movies, TV and stage performances in Utah and California. Ann Duffin is directing the full orchestra who will accompany ac-company the cast in this performance per-formance and Barbara Bel-nap Bel-nap is directing the musical numbers.
