THE DARTS would like to return to the form of their clubs a few years ago when the Darts won three straight state crowns from the years 1973 through 1975. Leading the parade to the champion pedestal is high jumper Mark Davenport and miler Wayne Pinto. Last year Davenport, only a junior this year, won the stte title with a 6'6" leap while Pinto, still only a sophomore won the mile in 4:39.38. ALSO BACK in the Dart camp is pole vaulter Bruce Brand who placed third in his event in the state last season, , Dave Hilton who placed fifth , in the 880 and Keith Malnar who finished sixth in the shot put. These stars coupled with a few new faces are hoping to bring the title back to the Kaysville school. Coach Mike Jones, one of the most successful track coaches in the area, feels that i his club is strong. "In the j state meet we're strong where others are weak, also the other schools are all strong in the sprints so hopefully they'll score against themselves." them-selves." ! REPRESENTING the Darts in the hurdles will be Dave Lewis, Todd Webster and Kevin Rohwer. Sprint men for Davis include Gaylen Brown, Mark Davenport and Kelly McGriggin. Dave Lloyd, Pat McGill and McGriggin will also run the 440. Besides Hilton, Jeff Hurst and Reid Neuman will compete com-pete in the 880. Pinto heads a list of seven runners to enter the mile and two mile, others include Lance and Quinn Ga-trell. Ga-trell. Burton Perkins, Paul Stenquist, Raymond Jones and Chad Jones. IN THE field events the Darts are well represented, in pole vaulting there is Bruce Brand, Bart Thompson, Kerry Manning, Robert 1 Johnson and Greg Hunt and Scott Olsen. High jumpers are Davenport, Daven-port, Ken Hutchinson, Lynn Adams and Lynn Stromberg. Long jumpers include Brett Sanders, Dave Lloyd, Ryan Perkins and Mike Starkes. LLOYD, GARY Parkin, Doug Perkins and Monte Bailey throw the javelin, Keith Malnar, Troy Evans, Randy Stone and Dan Flocken the discus and Malnar, Dirk Barnes, Flocken, Jon Warden and George Johnson the shot put. The Darts have some top individuals, two state champions cham-pions to name a couple, along with a lot of depth. All this adds up to a very competitive club. |
