Petroleum shortages could also mean the disappearance of many essential medical supplies. Petrochemicals are the building blocks of such medicine chest items as aspirin, as-pirin, petroleum jelly, rubbing alcohol, cough syrup, antibiotics and antihistamines. PLASTICS ARE derived from petrochemicals and used to make artificial heart valves, syringes, catheters, intravenous in-travenous tubing and oxygen masks. The energy shortage shor-tage could cause a medical crisis. Conserve.
