Show Volunteers Workers Honored The third annual volunteer recognition dinner for people who gave over 20 hours of their time helping the senior citizens program last year was held Thursday, March 30 at Davis High School. THERE WERE 275 invitations invita-tions sent to Davis County workers. These people have volunteered $75,000 worth of minimum wage hours this past year. After dinner, the Davis County commissioners presented certificates of recognition to the volunteers thanking them for their dedicated work. SINCE THE Davis County Council on Aging and the Senior Citizens Nutrition program have a very small salaried staff, the programs they offer could not succeed without volunteer workers. These important people perform many services. Some work as receptionist, answering an-swering telephones and giving directions. Senior citizens bulletins are prepared by volunteers and distributed to nearly 4.000 people in Davis County. THE nutrition program can operate because people donate their time to serve the food, clean up the lunchrooms and make decorations. Teaching is an important function performed by volunteers. volun-teers. Some volunteers serve in leadership capacities on the Council on Aging and other committees. These individuals in-dividuals help prepare special programs, classes and activities. . WITHOUT THE thousands of hours volunteered each year by these special citizens, there would be no senior citizens ci-tizens program in Davis County, dmg |
