Bountiful, was presented a plaque commemorating his years of service by Charles Patterson, assistant director of the State Division of Mental Health. MR. POPE was one of the original members of the state mental health board that was formed when that division split from the State Division of Health. Mr. Pope was appointed ap-pointed to that board by Governor Calvin Rampton and served two and one half terms until his appointment was up. Prior to his appointment to the mental health board, Mr. Pope had been named to the slate planning board for retardation re-tardation by Governor George D. Clyde. DR. RUSSELL Williams, director of the Davis County Family and Community Mental Men-tal Health Center said, "Harold has been a good supporter sup-porter of mental health planning plan-ning in the county and has met with the local board." His wife, Millie Pope, is presently a member of the Davis County board. According to Mr. Patter-son; Patter-son; during the ten years that Mr. Pope served on the board, that board faced many crises. "Harold could always be counted on for the quality and stability of his judgement through trying times. He never backed away from difficult dif-ficult decisions." MR. POPE is currently a member of the Davis County Sheriff's Merit Board. As chairman of the South Davis Community Hospital Board he supervised the changeover of that building from a hospital hospi-tal to a skill-care nursing home. Mr. Pope said his experience as Mayor of Bountiful from 1958-1961 may have provided the necessary community experience that prompted Governor Rampton to name him to the mental health board, rk |
