DARWIN GRANT Wedding 'Vows Taken In Church Ceremony In a beautiful setting and double ring ceremony, Miss Mary Louise Rowland, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. Amasa Rowlandbecame the bride of Darwin Grant, son of Mr. dition of "something old, something some-thing new" at her wedding, the bride wore a brooch, an heirloom of the family, which her grandmother grand-mother wore at her wedding. and Mrs. Joseph W. Grant. The marriage took place on Thursday, May 6, in the early evening, at the Fourth ward church, with Bishop Leo Crandall of the Eighth ward, officiating. Immediate family members and close friends of the couple witnessed the ceremony. Immediately after their marriage, mar-riage, the young couple, standing before a flower-banked fireplace, emphasized by tall burning candelabra cande-labra and an archway of apple blossoms, received their many relatives and friends. The bride was beautifully attired at-tired in a white taffeta wedding gown with fitted bodice and long train. Her silk net veil was edged with French imported lace and held in place with a wreath of stephanottis. She carried a lovely bridal bouquet of white roses, centered cen-tered with an orchid, and from which fell a shower of knotted satin ribbon. Attired also in pastel colored formals and holding bouquets of roses and carnations were bridesmaids, Connie and Joyce Crandall of Provo, cousins of the bride; Miss Barbara Kershaw of Salt Lake City; Miss Delores Smith, Miss Joanna Chaknias of Los Angeles, Calif., roommate at the U. S. A. C, and Mrs. Vera R. Peterson. Little Kathleen and Patricia Pa-tricia Rowland, twin nieces of the bride, were flower girls. They each held a basket of sweet peas. Kent Child was best man to the bridegroom. 'Also in the receiving line were parents of the couple. Mrs. Rowland Row-land was attired in turquoise and Mrs. Grant in gray, each with gardenia gar-denia corsage. A delightful program was featured fea-tured during the evening, including includ-ing several numbers from a string ensemble from Provo, arranged by Mrs. Phyllis Olsen. Miss Bonnie Baxter entertained with two vocal solos, as did Miss Elaine Jones, Miss Valetta Fullmer and Golden Hansori. Mrs. Mary Bird played the wedding march. Refreshments were served during dur-ing the evening by friends of the bride, including Miss Phyllis Hunter, Hunt-er, Mrs. Gloria P. Murdock, Miss Norma Liechty, Miss Elaine Jones, Miss Norma Rae Ostlund, Miss Carma Hopla and Miss Beverly Hancock. A pretty three-tiered wedding cake and white tapers decorated the serving table, and low bowls of tulips and other cut flowers were arranged about the hall. In charge of gift arrangements were Mrs. Louise Peterson and Mrs. Dorothy Kershaw of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Grace Loveridge, Mrs. Etta Thorpe and Mrs. Emma Rowland. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Rowland, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Grant, and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Rowland acted as host and hostesses during the evening, eve-ning, being in charge of the guest book and greeting guests at the door. ' ' After the reception, the newly-weds newly-weds left on a few days' wedding trip to the west coast, to the northwest, and Coeur d' A'lene, Idaho. They will return to Springville Spring-ville for a few days before going to Idaho, where they will make their home for the summer. |
