Show Funeral rites Friday for Hattie Jensen Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m., in the Mapleton Ma-pleton Ward Chapel, for Mrs. Harriet (Hattie) Whiting Jensen, Jen-sen, 86, who died Tuesday, September 28, 1965, at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Harold Har-old Whiting, Springville, of ailments incident to age. Bishop Bish-op Harold Gividen will be in charge. Friends may call at the Wheeler Mortuary, Thursday evening, from 7 to 9 p.m., and Friday before the services. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Jensen was born at Mapleton Ma-pleton June 5, 1879, a daughter daugh-ter of Albert and Susannah Perry Whiting. She had made her home there always and during her entire married life had lived at the same place, but in two different homes, at 245 E. Maple St. She was married to Joseph Jensen in the Salt Lake Temple, Tem-ple, Dec. 5, 1900. He died August Au-gust 21, 1948. She has always been active in church and civic work. She served as Primary president during the time there were three organizations; also as a teacher and secretary of Bun-day Bun-day School, secretary of MIA and as assistant secretary, counselor and class leader in Relief Society in which she was also president eight years. She has worked in some phase of the Relief Society organization organiza-tion continuously for over 50 years. She was a genealogy worker and stake missionary and has done considerable temple tem-ple work. Up until the last few months Mrs. Jensen lived in her home and cared for herself and her garden. For many years, her yard was a show place with beautiful flowers as well as vegetables. She was the mother of nine sons and daughters, all of whom survive as follows: Mrs. Clara Arnett, Price; J. Fay and R. Ernel Jensen and Mrs. Bill (Muriel) Cox, Mapleton; Mrs. LeGrande (Nelda) Carlson Carl-son of Salem; Russell Jensen, Spanish Fork; Mrs. Harold J. (Marie) Whiting, Springville; Fred Jensen, American Fork; Mrs. Keith (Fern) Butler, Og-den; Og-den; 37 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and the following follow-ing brothers and sisters: Mrs. Ethel Matson and Mrs. Lorna Tibbits of Lorenzo, Idaho; J. M. Whiting, Los Angeles, California; Cal-ifornia; Mrs. Fern Waddoups, Idaho Falls, Idaho; Mrs. Kath-erine Kath-erine Strate, Columbia, Utah; Oscar Whiting, Mapleton; Mrs. Suzie Fuller, iSalt Lake City. |
