Show SERVICES HELD TUESDAY FOR ALMA H. SPAFF0RD Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon for Alma Horace Spafford,- 76, life long resident of Springville, well known retired stockman who died Saturday Satur-day fololwing a prolonged illness. The services were held in the Third-Ninth ward chapel under direction of Bishop W. W. Clyde of the Ninth ward. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery under direction of A. Y. Wheeler and Son Mortuary. Mr. Spafford was born March 5, 1872, in Springville, a son of Alma and Sarah Jane Alleman Spafford, early pioneers of the city. He is a past president of the local livestock association, and has served as a board member almost continually since it was founded. He married Mary Mildred Clyde in the Manti temple Januar 9, 1890. She died Oct. 22, 1924. He was an Elder in the L.D.S. church at the time of death. The father of nine children, six of them survive him. They are: Mrs. T. M. (Jesse) Aldous, Tooele; Mrs. Paul Kelly, Mrs. Mildred Holley, and Clarence Spafford, Springville; Mrs. Wendell B. Men-denhall, Men-denhall, Stockton, Cal.; J. Duane Spafford, Inglewood, Cal. He is also survived ' by three sisters, Clara ' Hughes, Salt Lake City; Martha McKenzie, and Irinda Houtz, Springville, and 24 grandchildren grand-children and five great-grandchildren. |
