EZRA JOHN NIXON, JR., nee Charlotte Mac-donald, Mac-donald, whose marriage took place Dec. 19 in the Mesa LDS Temple. The newlyweds were honored at a Christmas wedding wed-ding dance in Roosevelt. Spanish-Christmas Theme Is Evident At Local Wedding Event Mr. and Mrs. Ezra John Nixon, Nix-on, Jr. greeted many friends on Christmas night at a wedding dance and program at the Roosevelt Roos-evelt Stake House, given in their honor by Bishop and Mrs. E. J. Nixon, parents of the groom. Many friends and relatives rela-tives attended the non-invitational affair. A Spanish-Christmas theme was predominate in decorations, music, program numbers and refreshments. re-freshments. Background in the church foyer foy-er where the newlyweds stood was provided by wedding and Christmas bells just opposite the large lighted Christmas tree and Spanish canopy swing. The bride looked beautiful in her wedding gown of French imported Chantilly lace and white satin, which was fashioned fash-ioned with lace over satin bodice, long sleeves tapering to points at the wrist and a neat yoke with satin stand-up collar. Satin-backed lace drops below the waistline met the wide satin waltz-length skirt in deep scallops. scal-lops. Her bridal veil of illusion was held by a crown of orange blossoms. Spanish scenes drawn by Mrs Don Crittenden and huge red poinsettias made by Mrs. Lafe Morley adorned the walls of the dance room. The stage, which formed the setting for the Spanish Span-ish costumed orchestra, was made very colorful with Spanish Span-ish Serapes and baskets of all sizes. On the drapes and from the ceiling hung many glittering Christmas decorations, among which were five beautiful Spanish Span-ish Pinatas made by Mrs. Crittenden Crit-tenden and filled with nuts and wrapped candy. One of the high-I high-I lights of the evening was the I breaking of the pinatas by blind folded guests. The crown then scrambled to devour the treats as is the custom in Spanish j towns at Christmas time. Mrs. Floyd Peterson was in charge of the refreshments, assisted as-sisted by Mrs. Alma Wills, Mrs. Leland Angus. Mrs. Wilmer Murray, Mrs. J. V. Freston, Mrs. Ralph Shields. Mrs. Gordon Gor-don Hanson, Mrs. Louie Galloway, Gallo-way, Mrs. J. Harold Eldredge, Mrs. Melvin Petersen, Mrs. Floyd Labrum and Miss Pat Wills. Girls serving were Mary Rudy, Nela Schaefermeyer, Jean Alexander, Shirley Miles and LaJean McKenna. Three couples took care of the gift room and guest book at intervals, including Mr. and Mrs. Marion Bowman, Mr. and Mrs. Alva Snow, and Mr. and Mrs.-Lamont Nielson. Program numbers were as follows: short movie of the Bull Fights of Mexico City, and other oth-er scenes in Mexico; the Mexican Mexi-can Hat Dance, by Karen Nixon and Tommy Gardner, accompanied accompan-ied by Carol Gardner; Spanish-Group Spanish-Group dance, Deanna Bowman, Earl Allred, Joyce Wills, Larry Johnson, Evelyn Trujillo and Homer Pitt, directed by Mrs. Axel Anderson; Christmas carols car-ols sung in Spanish, by Jack Jenkins and Ramona Harrison, with Miss Jeneal Harrison as reader; trio, singing, "Winter Wonderland," Janet Stevens, Janice Anderton and LaRae Drollinger. accompanied by Joan Todd. The new bride is the former Charlotte Macdonald, of Elpaso, Texas, daughter of Mrs. Byron V. Macdonald. She graduated from Elpaso High School and attended the Brigham Young University for two years. The groom attended Roosevelt High School for three years, completing his high school credit cred-it at the BY High in 1949, and starting his college training. He attended BYU for seven quarters quar-ters The bride and groom have both completed Spanish-American missions for the L.D.S. church. They were married in the LDS Temple at Mesa. Arizona with President A. L. Pierce officiating, of-ficiating, A wedding breakfast followed, given by the groom's father, and they were honored on Dec. 19 at a wedding reception recep-tion at the home of E. Keith Macdonald, brother of the bride. The young couple will make a home in San Francisco, Calif., where Mr. Nixon is stationed with the Administrative Service Unit of the 6th Army Command in the Office of Finance. Special guests here for the occasion were Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Olsen, of Moroni, grandparents grandpar-ents of the groom, and Mr. and Mrs. Lafe Morley, of Delta, aunt and uncle of the groom. |
