Show Tiiiipanogos Stake barteri; Conference Big Success ELDER GEORGE F. RICHAKl-o ATTENDS The Quarterly conference of the Timpanogos stake convened in the stake tabernacle Sunday, January 26, at 10 a. m. The high spots of this session con- j sisted of a report of stake activities by President W. W. Warnick, and a report of Seminary work by S. D. ' Moore, who said that Junior Semi-' nary work was progressing. The 1 best teachers in the state are in ' charge of the work. They are Dish-; op S. L. Swenson, Ezra F. Walker,1 Leda Thompson and Lela Banks. j The Senior Seminary work has had better attendance this year than pre- j vious years. Out of thirty-seven students that graduated from the high school last year, twenty-nine were seminary students. He also reported re-ported that the stake Missionary class was progressing nicely. Mrs. Hedve Christiansen, president of the Stake Primary Association, spoke, stating that all but seventy, children of the entire stake were en-rolled en-rolled in Primary work. The Pri- j mary Association is one of the im-. portant organizations in the stake, j Children are taught valuable lessons j which remain with them as they grow older. She related a story of a crippled boy at the Childrens' home. His belief in prayer was the point emphasized. Elder George F. Richards of the j Council of the Twelve Apostles relat- j ed a story from the Bible emphaaiz ing "Trustworthiness". The missionary work of the church I is carried on by Elders and lady missionaries. This work was formerly former-ly the work of the Seventies quorum. 1 Most of the Seventies of the church are supporting missionaries. They should also be organized into groups j to teach the gospel to their communi-! communi-! ties. There should be cooperation between stake and ward officers, and harmony in every organization. Special music for this session consisted con-sisted of two numbers from the Third Ward quartet, a vocal duet by Kenneth Ken-neth Van Wagoner and Oswald Furr and a number by the Pleasant Grove of the sons of Israel. They all married mar-ried wonderful wives who were the : real n others of the posterity. He urged the L. D. S. young pen and women to marry those of their own faith. The number of divorces show j the unhappiness of improper mating. In the Catholic church many of the priests covenant that they will never marr Apostle Paul classes t this doctorine as one of the devil. As ' members of this church we are commanded to marry to receive ex- ! altation in the Kingdom of God. l; People who go to the temple must bo f in harmony with their fellow men. 1 They must have clean bodies, clean 1 linen, clean hands and hearts to be sealed for eternity, and receive the blessings for their faithfulness. Men who use tobacco, liquor or profane 1 language should not receive temple " recommends. He concluded by stating stat-ing that a good virtuous woman should not be tied up to an unclean 1 man. Walker's subject was "Loyal-1 "Loyal-1 ty". The American continent would 1 never have existed if the colonists had not been loyal to their Doclara- tion of Independence. Loyalty is devotion de-votion to parents, to church, to a home, to leaders and to church and i-to i-to an ideal. The members of 3" the L. D. S. church have been loyal to the cause of Mormonism for over one hundred years. "May we ever be loyal to the mission of Joseph SmitK High School Ladies Glee Club. f At the 2 p. m. meeting President Presi-dent M. S. Christiansen was the first speaker, followed by C. L. Johnson, who leaves soon to fulfill a mission in California. Elder Richards Rich-ards emphasized proper marriage and deplored the divorce evil as it is today. Abraham realized the importance im-portance of proper marriage when he took his son Isaac to his own people that he might marry properly. Abraham, Abra-ham, Isaac and Jacob are the fathers and willing to pay the price."
