Taylor Elementary School in Centerville managed to play soccer Friday, in spite of the storm that left up to two feet of snow in the mountains and several inches on valley floors. The snow didn't last long and Saturday was once again mostly sunny. Doty, explained the policy is worded to comply with those state and federal guidelines, but even they are not clear. He said in 1994 a federal Gun-Fre- e Zones Act prohibited within 1,000 feet of a weapons school zone, but it was struck down as a violation of a commerce clause. Doty said a weapon was broadly defined under state law.
