Baha' is Suppdrt Human Rights Day whose aims parallel those of the Baha'i faith in the areas of world peace and universal brotherhood. Among these are World Religion Day, World Peace Day and Race Unity Day. Webb ascribed this participation to the basic Baha'i tenet of the brotherhood of man. By KAREN ANNE WEBB The Baha'is of Bountiful will join with other Baha'i groups in the Salt Lake Valley in observing Human Rights Day on Sunday, Dec. 10. 1 . The main event will be a panel discussion held at the Marriott Hotel Ho-tel in Salt Lake City. The topic for the panel will be "Human Rights: A Prerequisite to Peace on Earth." A representative of the Baha'i Faith will speak on the subject of human rights in general. Joining the Baha'i speaker will be speakers representing rep-resenting the United Nations, the American Civil Liberties Union, ' and Amnesty International. ' The UN representative will discuss human rights in India. Amnesty International's representative represen-tative will discuss human rights on the global scale, while the ACLU representative will discuss human rights issues facing Utah in the coming years. . Paul Webb, vice-chairman of the Spiritual Assembly of Bountiful,' said, "This is an especially exciting year to be jcelebrating this event. The human rights reforms, especially espe-cially in Eastern Bloc countries, show us the sort of global awareness that is developing when it comes teA implementing these basic rights rather than just talking about them."
