The fuel flowed into an open catch basin where it was retained without causing damage to the community's water system. Although the accident happened when the Colorado driver lost control of his rig on 2600 South, danger of an explosion caused the closure of all traffic on 1-15 for more than three hours. Jet fuel left in the tanker, which was enroute to Salt Lake International Airport, was pumped into another truck after firemen doused the crippled truck with foam to be certain there would be no explosion. i |
