EDWIN PARKER ..a Nintendo for him CAROLYN KNIGHTON ...atrip to Idaho By TOM HARALDSEN BOUNTIFUL--Ask a hundred kids, and you'll probably get a hundred hun-dred answers to the two questions we poseft" during our Man on the Street survey while Saturday's Bountiful Jaycees Christmas Parade was commencing: Is this the real Santa Glaus, and, if it is, what would" you like him to bring you this year? The six we interviewed all had some very distinct views on both questions. ' Edwin Parker of Bountiful said he knew the Santa in Saturday's parade wasn't the real one, because, "Santa Claus is really your parents." Still, he enjoyed visiting with one other Santa earlier this year at Layton Hills Mall. Edwin's request this year is a ' simple enoughone Nintendo game, tNoAa.xery.?j.originalv: since Nintendo is the top seller of all Christmas toys this year, but still a solid . request for his parents, Stephen and Laura Parker, to fulfill, not to mention Santa. Brandy Burr of Farmington had already sat on the laps of two Santas this year before Saturday's parade, one in Ogden and one in Salt Lake City. She said Santa's arrival on Saturday was her favorite part of the parade, and she was convinced that the "rel" Santa would bring her a glass doll this year, perhaps a Cabbage Patch. Brandy is the daughter of Terry and Diane Burr. Ryan Benard of Bountiful also had a pretty good idea that Saturday's Satur-day's Santa was the real thing, and the son of Blaine and Kay Benard already knew exactly what he wanted. "A bunk bed, a trampoline and a telephone," he blurted out quickly when asked for his Christmas list. Ryan loves to see .Santa in the parade, which, he said, was why he'd come on Saturday. For the twin brother, and sister team of Hank.nd Holly Hutchins of Centerville, Santa's arrival was also a special treat Saturday. Hank and Holly had seen one Santa earlier this year at Crossroads Mall in Salt Lake City, plus one on tele vision. But they were very excited to wave at the jolly old elf himself on Main Street. Hank's requests this year include a Nerf Turbo Football, anything from Ghostbusters, and a Nintendo. Holly would like a baby doll, preferably pref-erably a Sippin Baby Burps, and a Barbie. Parents Greg and Vicki Hutchins will be busy helping Santa with those requests, tj-um, , , -rjfittJ-.':" "T :z t a Carolyn Kingston of Bountiful was a bit more philosophical than her younger parade-goers. She feels that the real Santa "is still at the North Pole," thus utilizing the San ta's helpers seen locally this month. The daughter of Carl and June Kingston, Carolyn's biggest request this year is "I want to go to Idaho" to visit her friends, who attended Saturday's parade with her. Besides Santa, her other favorite part of the parade was seeing the Millcreek Junior Ju-nior High float and band. So there you have it, different ; , viewpoints .and requests. And since , these special Christmas lists are now in black ink on newsprint, everyone knows what these young people are asking for this year. Mom, Dad, Santa...the rest is up to you. Good luck! |
