Show Hunters compete i The cream of Utah's young hunters hun-ters gathered last weekend at the Lee Kay Hunter Education Center in Salt Lake City to compete for Utah State Champion awards in rifle, shotgun, archery, hunter skills, and aggregate categories plus an opportunity to represent Utah at the NRA North-American Hunter Education Championships in North Carolina this July. ' The annual Utah Hunter Educa- ; tion Championship competitions ! are sponsored by the Utah Hunter i Education Instructor Association, j in cooperation with the National Rifle Association and the Utah Division Di-vision of Wildlife Resources. All competitors were graduates of Utah Hunter education courses in their localities and were sponsored by a certified Utah hunter education educa-tion instructor. Both boys and girls ages 11-18 were entered. Kiley Ward, 14, of Centerville, won the Utah Junior Hunter Education Edu-cation Champion trophy and will fill the fourth spot on Utah's five-position five-position team of champions. Kelly's Kel-ly's specialty was rifle competition, competi-tion, but he scored highly in all events to rate the over-all junior champion title. He was first runner-up in rifle and champion in aggregate. |
