Show NSL added to fire district While the other cities would have liked North Salt Lake to buy a portion of the equity that is already . in the district, Mayor Jake Simmons Sim-mons said that the city did not have the means to pay off any more expenses. ex-penses. Under the agreement reached, of the $500,000 in present equity, North Salt Lake will not receive any portion. From July 1, North Salt Lake will start purchasing equity in the remaining debt. The rolling stock that North Salt Lake now owns Will go into the fire district dis-trict as a gesture of good will on the part of North Salt Lake and will be shared by everyone according to the assessed equity. The new corrected interlocal agreement and the lease for the building will have to be approved by all the cities in the district before it can become effective. The changed budget with North Salt Lake as part of the district was also ratified. By CHERIE HUBER BOUNTIFUL-The mayors of Centerville, North Salt Lake, West Bountiful and Woods Cross and Commissioner Harry Gerlach worked on a way to come to an agreement on a plan for North Salt Lake to join the South Davis Fire District. Three main issues had to be dealt with. First, the other cities have been in the Fire District for five years and have built up about $500,000 in equity in the district. Secondly, North Salt Lake has some equipment equip-ment of its own valued from $40,000 to $70,000. The third problem prob-lem is that North Salt Lake wants to rent its fire house back to the district for $27,000 a year to finish paying off the cost of that part of the building which also houses the North Salt Lake City Hall and Police Department. North Salt Lake would like to rent the building to the district for 13 years until the building is paid for. At that time, the city is willing to furnish the space free if the district dis-trict will pay for utilities and maintenance. However, with this plan the district does not build equity in the building. |
