Show Gain honors Two graduating sophomores from Farmington were named Spori Scholars, the highest scholastic scho-lastic honor bestowed by Ricks College, at recent ceremonies at the Rexburg, Idaho junior college. A Centerville woman meanwhile, mean-while, also received a high honor from the college. This year's recipients reci-pients include Sonja Rees, a physical phy-sical therapy major and Katrina Allen, an interpersonal communication communi-cation major, both of Farmington. The scholarship, named after Jacob Spori, the first president of Ricks College, includes two years full tuition and a monetary gift to attend BYU. The award is based on academics, honors, attitude, extra-curricular activities, community commun-ity and church service and other related experiences. Tracee Shell, a sophomore broadcast-journalism major from Centerville, was given the Thomas E. Ricks Exemplary Student Award. She was named the 1986 Woman of the Year earlier and was active in Women's Office for two years and on the student activity committee. A daughter of Jack and Jeanne Shell she was also a radio announcer announ-cer on the student-operated station and a writer for the student newspaper. |
